Hi, I'm James

James Curtain is a multi-disciplinary photographer based near Kingaroy in South East Queensland.
Having trained as a social worker before completing studies in business, education and creative arts, James brings a diverse background to his local photography practice.

James has experience covering a wide range of local community events, weddings, sports, and family gatherings, as well as commercial photography and real estate.

With accreditations with the Australian Institute of Professional Photographers (AIPP), Rugby Australia (RA), National Basketball League (NBL) and various event organisers, James has extensive experience consistently producing high-quality work across challenging environments.

master of light and lighting

James has a passion for local community, social justice and the arts. He aims to provoke thought and social change through his photography, and he looks to find meaning in imagery from abstract works to fine art and portraiture.

As a master of light and lighting, James specialises in studio photography. Individual portraits, family sessions, and staged creative works are a passion.

James’ current area of professional focus is a personal project. It aims to use photography to give voice to stories of courage, what it means to be Australian, the notion of a “fair go”, and the role of the “underdog” in the ongoing development of the national narrative.
